Gallery Walk

 

Grouping:

Distribute playing cards using to make groups of four.  Use as many numbers as needed to divide the class evenly.  If needed use a group of three.  If there is less than three students left, allow students to make a couple groups of five.

Materials:

Large poster paper

Markers

Directions:

  1. Split into groups.
  2. Distribute each group a piece of poster paper and markers.
  3. Next, the teacher will give a topic.
  4. Teams will generate ideas about the topic and write them on the poster.
  5. The team will then assign one person to be the spokesman for the group.
  6. Each spokesman will stay with their groups poster throughout.
  7. The rest of the groups will rotate clockwise to the next groups poster.
  8. The traveling group members will then ask the spokesman questions about their ideas and to discuss other possible ideas.
  9. Once all the posters were visited, come together as a class to discuss the ideas that were generated.
