Sam’s Circles

Grouping:

Cut the class in half- spilt up equally if possible

Materials:

Novel or textbook

Paper

Pencil

Directions:

• Read the short story/poem/novel…..
• Split up the class into two groups
• Turn the half of the desks inward in the shape of a circle
• Turn the other desks facing the walls of the room in the shape of a circle
• The inside group is the discussion group the outer group can not talk
• The outside group is taking notes over the inside discussion
• Outside group takes notes/inside group discussed about 10 minutes
• Switch groups (outside moves in and discusses and inside moves to the outside and takes notes)
