Tapping Telephone

Grouping 

• Students should be grouped into groups of at 6-7 students. 

Materials 

• There are no materials needed for this activity

Directions 

• Teacher groups students and has them get into a circle facing the middle in which they are close to the people next to them.
• The students then turn to the right so that they are facing the back of the other group member.
• One person in the group will start the telephone by tapping a 5-6 beat rhythm on the person in front of them’s back. 
• That group member will then attempt to repeat the rhythm on the back of the person in front of them. 
• Each group member will repeat the previous step until the rhythm gets back around to the originator.
• After deciding whether the rhythm made it around correctly, another person gets the chance to start and create a rhythm.
