Mix, Freeze, Group
Grouping of Students:
- No groups necessary for the start of this activity
Materials Needed:
- No materials necessary
- Teacher should have questions prepared that can be answered with a number
Directions:
- Students will walk around the room in all directions and areas.
- Teacher will yell “Freeze!”
- While students are frozen, the teacher will ask a question that has a number answer. (If a question needs to be asked that doesn’t have a number answer, assign each answer a number.)
- Students then group themselves with people around them according to the correct answer. (Ex. How many primary colors are there? Students would then get in groups of 3.)
- Students that do not have a group go the Lost and Found. This can just be a circle in the middle of the class.
- A student in the Lost and Found then gets to ask the next question. The teacher may provide them with a question if needed.
